Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), May 13, 1920, p. 7, col. 3 Death of Shonka Babe. Louisa Anna Shonka, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerold E. Shonka, was found dead in bed Monday morning, May 10, at the Shonka home five miles west of David City. The babe was nearly three months old, born on February 21. Besides the parents there are a brother and sister, Leonard and Arline, who survive. Funeral services wre held in St. Mary's Catholic church, David City, at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning, May 12, conducted by Rev Father Bernard Sproll. Four boys, Stephen Macholan, Edward Shonka, Ernest Shonka and Theodore Yanka, were pallbearers. There were four honorary pallbearers, Ruth and Julia Kinnison, Mary Smetak and the babe's sister, Arline Shonka. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery. Coming from elsewhere to attend the funeral were Mrs. Shonka's parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Joseph Macholan, Sr., and sister-in-law, Mrs. Joseph Macholan, Jr., from Linwood and Mrs. James Zakovec from Morse Bluff, a sister of Mrs. Shonka. ________ Card of Thanks - We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to the neighbors who were so kind in our time of sorrow and for the many beautiful floral offerings for our little darling.
