Born in the village of Rapstyn, town of Dacice, county of Jihlava, Moravia, Austrian Empire (now the village of Borova in the Czech Republic). According to research by Jennifer Faust August 14, 1842 in house #15, Rapstyn to Joseph Pokorny and Marianna Kovar (daughter of Joseph Kovar and Theresa Maly) and married Antonia Svoboda on July 18, 1865 in the village of Chotebudice (aka Kutabudice). ''''''''''''''''''''''''' People's Banner (David City, Nebr.), April 6, 1922, p. 4, col. 3 BRUNO Joseph Pokorney Sr. died at his home near Appleton Thursday morning and was buried at Appleton cemetery Saturday. He was nearly 83 years of age and for several years was not in the best of health. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved.
