The People's Banner (David City, Nebr.), October 3, 1946, p. 1, col. 3 Dwight Woman Died At Advanced Age Dwight – Mrs. Josephine Stoupa, 93, died from infirmities of old age Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joe Anderly at Dwight, where she had made her home for several years. She was born March 17, 1853, in Chaslave, Czechoslovakia, where she grew to young womanhood and was married to Joe Stoupa in June 1880, they coming to the United States and Butler county in 1890. To them were born four children, two daughters and two sons, who survive namely, Mrs. Joe Anderly and John Stoupa of Dwight, Mrs. James Hraban of Weston and Frank Stoupa of Brainard. Mr. Stoupa died at Bee February 14, 1933. Mrs. Stoupa also leaves 22 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was a faithful member of the Catholic church and the Holy Rosary Society. Rt. Rev. Victor P. Mlejank conducted funeral services at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at Assumption Catholic church, Dwight. Singing was by the Assumption school choir, with Sister M. Geneveiree as organist. James Hraban, Emil Anderly, Joe Stoupa, Wm. Stoupa, James Anderly and Daniel Stoupa were pallbearers. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery at Dwight. Coming from elsewhere to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Stoupa and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Zahourek of Wahoo, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Zmek of Chapman, Mr. and Mrs. James Albin of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Steinback of Prague, Mrs. Mary Makovicka and the Frank D. Stoupa family of Seward and Jos. Hurt of Lincoln. ___ CARD OF THANKS I wish to take this means of expressing my sincere thanks to my relatives, neighbors and friends for the kindness and help offered during the illness and at the time of death of my dear mother, also for the spiritual offerings.
