Slavik Funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning, March 30, from St. Mary's Catholic Church for Mrs. Clodie M. Slavik, 66, who died March 26 at the David City Hospital. She had been in failing health for some time. Officiating was the Rev. Edwin Stander. Pallbearers were four grandsons, James, Henry, Thomas, and Norman Weverka, and two nephews, Gary and Eddy Eichner. Burial was in the Dwight Catholic Cemetery. Relatives from East St. Louis, Ill., Omaha, Lincoln, Seward, Bee, O'Neill, Ulysses, Abie, Bruno, Brainard, Dwight and Columbus were among those in attendance at the services. Clodie M. Policky, the daughter of Anton and Anna Shalon Policky, was born March 5, 1899. She attended Rocky Corner School near Dwight. On June 20, 1922, she was married at Dwight Assumption Church to John Alois Slavik. Three children were born to this union. The family lived in Butler county for many years and then spent 20 years at Seward. About 2½ years ago she moved to the Community Rest Home here to make her home. She was a member of the Catholic Church. She is survived by one son, Albin Slavik of East St. Louis, Ill., two daughters, Mrs. Henry (Mary) Weverka of Bruno and Mrs. Bernard (Marcella) Humlicek of Prague; 12 grandchildren; her mother, Mrs. Anna Policky of Seward; four brothers, Charles, Anton, James and Leo Policky of Omaha, and three sisters, Mrs. James (Anna) Vrbysky of Bee, Mrs. Edwin (Julia) Eichener of Omaha, and Mrs. Louis (Marie) Kotera of Bee. Her husband, John, who died in 1962, and her father, Anton Policky, preceded her in death.
