Mary A. Weverka, of Brainard, NE., passed away on November 26, 2012 at David Place in David City, NE. Mary was born on January 23, 1924 to John Alois and Clodie Marie (Policky) Slavik near Bruno, NE. On September 27, 1944 she was united in marriage to Henry J. Weverka, Sr. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Brainard, NE. Together they farmed in Butler County, NE. until retiring and they moved to Brainard, NE., in 1986. Mary worked side by side with Henry. In 2007 she moved to David Place in David City, NE. Mary was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the PCCW, and the Brainard Community Club. Mary enjoyed gardening canning, baking, sewing and mending, reading, and listening to Czech music. She also loved playing BINGO and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary is survived by: sons; James (Rose) Weverka of Lincoln, NE., Thomas (Faun) Weverka of Bruno, NE., Norman (Karen) Weverka of Greenwood, NE. and Henry, Jr. (Marilyn) of Papillion, NE.; daughter; Geraldine (Leon) Jakub of Brainard, NE.; sister; Marcella (Bernard) Humlicek of David City, NE.; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson and a host of relatives and friends.. Mary is preceded in death by: parents; husband, Henry J. Weverka, Sr. in 2004; granddaughter, Toni (Weverka) Prochaska; brother, Albin Slavik and great-grandson, Dustin Benes. Interment was in the Holy Trinity Cemetery, Butler County, NE.
