Bio

Her age at death results in a birth date of October 10, 1841 but the 1900 census states she was born October 1845 while her grave marker says 1846. Married Karel Policky in Moravia. They were the parents of nine children, three of whom died in Moravia. After her husband's death, Katerina and the surviving six children immigrated to the United States. Her son Karel was the first, leaving with Katerina's brother Cyril Novak and his family, then Joseph and Anton who immigrated with the Frank and Karolina Tomandl family (Katerina's sister) in 1890. Katerina and the youngest two children Frank and Frantiska followed in 1891 on the SS Eider , which arrived in New York City from Bremen, Germany on March 17. The family settled in Butler County, Nebr. where the 1900 census lists Katie Policky in Brainard with her daughter Fannie. In 1910 she lived in Ulysses Township with her son Frank and his family. Following Frank's death she moved to Dwight. '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Seward Independent-Democrat (Seward, Nebr.), January 12, 1928, p. 1, col. 2 MRS.
