Bio

Frantiska was born in Samikovice, Moravia. She immigrated to the U.S. with her mother arriving in New York on 17 Mar 1891 aboard the ship "Eider". Her father had died in Moravia; three of her brothers had immigrated before them with relatives. The family settled in Butler county, NE. Fannie (or "Frances") married John Kastl in Brainard, NE on 4 Jun 1902. They left for Oklahoma in 1902 and arrived in a Rock Island Railroad box, bringing with them a few horses and possessions. They settled on a farm three miles west of Yukon, OK. On this farm is where their 7 children were born: James C. (died 1989, buried El Reno Cemetery, Okla.), Rose, Albin, John, Leonard, Frank and Ludmila (Mrs. Lawrence) Hrdina. Yukon Review (OK); 16 Sep 1976 FANNIE MARIE KASTL Mass for Mrs. Fannie Marie Kastl, 92, Yukon, was read Monday at 10 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church. Burial was in the Yukon Cemetery under the direction of Yanda Funeral Home. A Wake service was held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at St. John's. She died Last Friday in the Yukon Convalescent Home after a long illness. Born in Czechoslovakia, Mrs. Kastl moved to Nebraska in 1890 and to Yukon in 1902. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and St. John's Altar Society. Survivors include five sons, James C., El Reno; Albin J. and Leonard J., both of Yukon; John F., Sacramento, Calif.; and Frank J., Norman; two daughters, Rose, of the home, and Mrs. Lillian Hrdina, Oklahoma City; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren and six step great-great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the St. John's Altar Society, Yukon.
