Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), March 17, 1938, p. 4, col. 4 HE PASSED AWAY MARCH 6. Funeral Services Held at Dwight Church Tuesday, March 8. Dwight, March 12 – Funeral services for Matej Moravec, retired farmer, who passed away at his home in Dwight on March 6, following illness of a week, were held at Assumption Catholic church, Dwight, at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning, March 8, in charge of Rev. Benedict Bauer, O. S. B. Six grandsons of Mr. Moravec were pallbearers. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery at Dwight. Members of the Catholic Workmen lodge, of which Mr. Moravec was a member, attended the funeral in a body. Those present from elsewhere were Frank Semrad and Mr. and Mrs. Vaclav Semrad of Bison, Okla., Anton Dvoracek and Mr. and Mrs. R. Dvoracek and sons of Ceresco, Mr. and Mrs. W. Polak of Weston, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Makovicka of Stromsburg, Miss Tillie Krenk of David City , Mr. and Mrs. Matt Swanda, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Rerucha, Sr., F. C. Dworak and Louis Dworak of Brainard, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Rerucha and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Rerucha of Garrison and Mrs. A. V. Roh and Mrs. A. C. Tomek of Bruno. Mr. Moravec was in his 78th year. He was born in Czechoslovakia in April, 1859, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Moravec. He grew to young manhood in that country and in 1880 was married at Zlebi, Caslav, to Anna Zeman, they coming to America in 1891 and locating at Weston, in Saunders county, where they resided on a farm until 1910. They then moved to a farm west of Dwight which was their home until 1928, when they retired from farm life and moved to Dwight. Ten children, eight daughters and two sons, were born to Mr.and Mrs. Moravec, two daughters preceding their father in death. The children who with their mother survive are Mrs. Mary Helman of Brainard, Mrs. Anna Chmelka of Bee, Mrs. Emma Humlicek of Linwood and Mrs. Antonia Jisa, Mrs. Rosie Hotovy, Mrs. Lillian Krenk, James Moravec and Joseph F. Moravec of Ulysses. Mr. Moravec is also survived by 43 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, one brother living in Czechoslovakia and many friends.
