Karla K. Magdalin, 37, of Saskatoon, Canada, died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Assumption Catholic Church in Dwight with the Rev. Loras Grell officiating. Burial is at the parish cemetery. Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. today at Knott Funeral Home in David City and 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Mrs. Magdalin was born Dec. 31, 1963, in Lincoln to Louis and Agnes (Kulhanek) Svoboda. She married Barry Magdalin Sept. 24, 1988, in Saskatoon. She was a computer operator in Saskatoon. She enjoyed hockey, ice skating, painting, crafts, dancing and music. She was a member of the Saskatoon Hockey Association, a past member of David City Heritage Club, Butler County Czech Queen, past president of PTA in Saskatoon and coordinator in the Saskatoon Community Association. She is survived by her husband; her parents; one son, Larry J. McElravy of Fort Gordon, Ga.; two stepsons, Barret Magdalin and Jordan Magdalin, both of Saskatoon; one daughter, Amber McElravy of Saskatoon; four brothers, Gene (Ruth) Svoboda of Hastings, Rudy Svoboda of Lakewood, Fla., Dan (Linda) Svoboda of Lincoln and Arne Svoboda of David City; one sister-in-law, Brenda Svoboda of Hastings; one sister, Bea (Ed) Foral of David City; and one step grandchild. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Anton and Stacie Svoboda and Joseph and Matilda Kulhanek.
