Bio

Arne D. Svoboda, 65, of David City, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024 in Lincoln after a courageous battle with cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, August 10, at 10:00 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Dwight with Father Ray Jansen officiating. Visitation will be Friday at Chermok Moravec Johnson Mortuary in David City from 5 until 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary. Visitation will resume Tuesday at the church from 9:30 until 10:00. Burial will follow at Assumption Catholic Cemetery. Arne D. Svoboda was born on September 24, 1958 to Louie and Agnes (Kulhanek) Svoboda in Columbus, Nebraska. He grew up in Lincoln and graduated high school. After school, Arne worked for the City of Lincoln. Arne later moved to Hastings. He married Brenda Lamphiear, and two children were born to this union. He spent time working at Pioneer as a machine operator. He later moved to David City where he resided. Arne was a big fan of everything Nebraska. He collected Nebraska memorabilia and loved to watch all sports, especially Husker Football. He was a member of the Heritage Club of David City as well as a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He loved playing cards, golfing, and gardening. Arne loved spending time with his family. He had a love for music and played the accordion and the organ. Arne is survived by his children: Louis (Misha) Svoboda and their children: Destiny, Mylie, Liam, Zayden, and Emberly, and son Lucas Svoboda all of Hastings. Also surviving are his siblings: Gene (Ruth) Svoboda of Hastings, Beatrice Alexander Foral of David City, Ruddy (Lisa) Svoboda of Altamonte Springs, Florida, sister in law: Linda Svoboda, many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents: Louie (Agnes) Svoboda, brother, Danny Svoboda, sister, Karla Magdalin, sister and brother in law, Mary Svoboda and Edward Foral.
