Herald Coaster, June 21, 1999: Funeral services for Frank Schunka, 73, of Boling, were held Saturday, June 19, at the Wharton Funeral Home Chapel, with Mickey Reynolds officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Memorial Park. Mr. Schunka, 73, of Boling, was born Dec. 11, 1925 in Mackay to Adolf and Caroline Kabeck Schunka. He passed away June 17, 1999 in a Houston hospital. He married Wilma Marie Orsak on Aug. 22, 1944 in Wharton. Mr. Schunka worked in construction for Brown & Root for over 20 years and then as a road foreman for Wharton County Precinct One for 10 years. He was then a self-employed rancher until his retirement in 1988. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy. He was a former resident of Wharton and a resident of Boling since 1964. He was Catholic by faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, WIlma; a son, David Schunka; and two brothers, Johnny and Charlie Schunka. Survivors include his daughter, Linda Rolf and her husband, Jody, of Boling; two sons, Frank Schunka and his wife, Peggy, of Richmond, and Mark Schunka of Louise; four sisters, Lucille Foster, Hulda Bennetsen, and Valerie Honc, all of Wharton, and Mary Tallas of Denton; grandchildren, Lori Schunka and her husband, Stephen Vollbrecht, of Austin, Karin Schunka of Sugar Land, Amber Davis and her husband, Wesley, of Boling, Brittany Treichel of Boling, Kayla Schunka of Columbus, and Ryan Rolf of Boling; and one great-grandchild, Mollie Davis of Boling. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home of Wharton.
