Herald Coaster, November 4, 2004: Mark Stanley Schunka, 48, of Flat Rock, Mich. died Monday Nov. 1, 2004 in Trenton, Mich. following a sudden illness. He was born May 7, 1956 in Wharton, the son of the late Frank Schunka and Wilma Marie Orsak Schunka. He was raised in Boling and was a former resident of El Campo and Monroe, Mich. before moving to Flat Rock, Mich. Mr. Schunka was a self-employed contractor. He was Methodist by faith. His favorite hobbies were fishing and hunting. Following cremation, memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004 at the Wharton Funeral Home, 515 East Bolling Highway in Wharton, with Rev. Paul Thomasson officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Survivors include his daughters, Amber Yates and her husband, Michael, of Boling and Kayla Schunka and her husband, Manze Cockren, of Columbus; his sisters, Linda Rolf and her husband, Jody, of Boling; his brother, Frank Schunka and his wife, Peggy, of Richmond; and his grandchildren, Mollie Davis, Mallorie Davis, Mia Yates and Kara Cockren. Honorary pallbearers will be his many friends and co-workers. If desiring, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
