He is called James on his marriage record and Wencil on the 1900, 1910, and 1920 census records. '''''''''''''''''''' The Brainard Clipper (Brainard, Nebr.), February 4, 1926, p. 4, col. 4 Obituary of W. Kabourek The hand of God reached forth and called away from this world a prominent business man Mr. W. Kabourek of Dwight, Nebr. He was born in Z. Vykov Cechoslovakia Sept. 17, 1868. He came to the U.S. with his parents when he was five years old and made their home in La Crosse, Wis. for two years, from there they moved to Brainard where he grew up to manhood. May 3, 1892 he was united in holy matrimony to Miss Philomena Barick of Weston. They resided on a farm five miles north-east of Brainard. For eight years he toiled on that farm, he then decided to move his family to Brainard and go into business. The ten long years there he was an undertaker and a dealer in hardware and furniture. He then sold out and build a general merchandise and hardware store in Dwight. For the last two years he was ailing. Since July 1925 he has been bedfast, being absolutely helpless. He remained in that critical condition 'til his death which occurred Saturday night at 9:30, Jan.23, 1926. Funeral services were held in St. Mary's Church, Tues. Jan. 26, 1926 at 10 o'clock. Interment was in the Catholic Cemetery. He leaves to mourn his death his dear wife, Mrs. W. Kabourek, James, Julius, Joseph, his sons, Mrs. G. J. Tomes, Mrs. E. A. Dosek, Barbara, Georgia, Marie and Genevieve his daughters; his aged father, Matej Kabourek; a sister, Mrs. Frank Bratrsovsky, a brother Frank Kabourek of Brainard. __ A precious one from us has gone A voice we loved is stilled; A place is vacant in our home Which never can be filled. God in his wisdom has recalled, The boon his love had given And though the body slumbers here, The soul is safe in Heaven. __ CARD OF THANKS We wish to take this means of thanking everyone who was so kind in extending help during the long illness and death of our beloved husband and father. Mrs. W. Kabourek and family.
