'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), April 7, 1932, p. 1, col. 7 PASSED AWAY ON MARCH 30 Mrs. Anna Houska Died at Home of Daughter Near Dwight. Mrs. Anna Houska, long-time resident of Butler county, passed away Wednesday, March 30, following illness of 14 months, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. A Novak, near Dwight, where she had made her home for some time. She was in her 70th year. Funeral services were held at St. Mary's Catholic church in Dwight at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 2. The services were conducted by Rev. Father Schrulek, assisted by Rev. Father Bauer. The pallbearers were John Brym, James Mares, John Korinek, James Kudlacek, Mike Sypal and John Kobza. Burial was in the Dwight cemetery. Anna Mares was Mrs. Houska's maiden name. She was born in Czechoslovakia August 16, 1862, and when six years old she came to America with her parents, they settling in Saunders county, Nebraka. There she grew to young womanhood and on April 22, 1884, was married to Frank Houska at Plasi. Ten years after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Houska moved to Butler county, near Dwight, which was their home for the remainder of their lives. Mr. Houska died on February 12, 1931. Mrs. Houska was the mother of four children, three sons and one daughter. One son died when a year old and one son, Albert, died three years ago. The surviving son and daughter are Frank Houska of Staplehurst and Mrs. J. A. Novak of Dwight. Nine grandchildren, four sisters and four brothers also survive Mrs. Houska. The sisters and brothers are Mrs. John Brym of David City, Mrs. Frank Engler, Mrs. John Korinek, Frank Mares and James Mares of Dwight, Mrs. John Engler, living in Colorado, Albert Mares of Emporia, Kas., and Joe Mares, living in South Dakota. __ Card of Thanks – We wish to express our heartfelt thanks for all the kindness and help shown us during the illness and at time of death of our loved one, also for the beautiful floral offerings.
