Thursday, September 10, 1959 The Banner-Press David City, NE Pg #2 Jerry Jaroslav Novak Jerry Novak Dies At Age 73 Funeral services were held Sept. 3, at the Abie Community Hall, for Jerry Novak, 73, who died at Hastings, Aug. 31. The Rev. Donald Proett was in charge of the services at 2 p.m. Mrs. Marjorie Proett, organist, accompanied Frederich and Raymond Houfek, vocalists. Serving as pallbearers were John Hladky, Edward Hajek, William Novak, Jerry Hajek, Frank Hajek and Frank Yonda. Burial was in the Abie National Cemetery. Mr. Novak was born at Abie, July 29, 1886. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Alois (Millie) Kubicek of Columbus and a brother, Stanley of Linwood. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother. Note: There are a few discrepancies in the obituary. Jerry’s WWI Draft Registration states he was born on October 17, 1886. He is survived by his sister Mrs. John (Millie) Kubicek of Columbus. The name Alois is a brother of John Kubicek.
