Grand Island (Nebraska) Daily Independent Thursday, 5 July 1917 Death of C. J. Johnson - Mr. Charles J. Johnson, a resident of Nebraska for over thirty-five years, passed away at his home in West Lawn about 9:30 o'clock last evening death resulting from heart disease. The deceased had reached the age of 71 years, six months and twenty-two days. Besides his bereaved widow he leaves to mourn his death four sons and four daughters, they being: Mrs. George Penington, C. O. (Carl Oscar) Johnson, Mrs. Walter Smith, W. F. (Wm) Johnson, Miss Carrie, Miss Edith, Lee and Albert. Two sons preceded him in death. Definite arrangements for the funeral have not as yet been made. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Grand Island (Nebraska) Daily Independent Friday, 6 July 1917 The funeral of Charles J. Johnson, who passed away Wednesday evening, will be held tomorrow forenoon at 10 o'clock from the home in West Lawn, Rev. J. G. Shick, of the Trinity M.E. church, officiating.
