Grand Island (Nebraska) Daily Independent Saturday, 12 March 1904, page 8 Death of Mrs. McLellen. Alice Juhnke McLellen, wife of Wm. McLellen, was born in Manchester, Massachusetts on November 4th, 1864. She moved with her parents to Tennessee when but one year old, from there to Chicago in 1872. In 1873 came to Grand Island, Nebraska, where she resided till her death on March 9th, 1904. Aged 39 years, 4 months and 5 days. On February 17th, 1885 was married to Mr. William McLellen. Of this union were born eight children, five girls and three boys. Mrs. McLellen was always a kind and loving wife and mother. She was a good neighbor always willing to help others in trouble and sickness. She will be badly missed by her family and aged mother that made her home with her as well as by a host of friends. (and in another column) Wm. McLellan, residing six miles west of the city is still quite seriously ill with pneumonia. He was unable to attend the funeral of his wife. Mrs. Gilmore of Omaha, Mrs. Junke of Brookfield, Mo., and the Messrs. Grothe of Wayne and Junke of Thedford, brothers and sisters of Mrs. McLellan are here, having come to attend the funeral. Their mother is staying at the McClellan home. ========== The Free Press, published in Grand Island, Nebraska Friday, 11 March 1904, page 7 Mrs. McClellan [sic], wife of William McClellan, residing six miles due west of the city, died Wednesday morning at 2 o'clock, from pneumonia. She leaves a husband and several small children to mourn her death. The funeral was held at 2 o'clock yesterday (Thursday) afternoon from the residence. The deceased was a dutiful wife and a kind and affectionate mother and enjoyed the respect of all who personally knew her. The Free Press extends its sympathy to be bereaved husband, children and friends.
