Bio

Royce Franklin Hess, 94, was born in Winkler County, Texas Dec. 18, 1909. Royce had lived in Lubbock County since 1910. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2004, at the New Deal United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Lubbock County Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy. He married Cleo Young in Abernathy Aug. 12, 1933. They farmed and lived in the New Deal Community. Royce was a member of the New Deal Methodist Church and a charter member of the New Deal Lions Club, having received his 50-year pin. He is survived by his wife Cleo; a daughter, Glenda Pearl West and her husband, Herbert, of Lubbock; a sister, Una Dee Dutton of Ft. Worth; two grandchildren, Glenda Kay Van Hoose and her husband, Wayne, of New Deal and Jackie Wayne Thompson, Jr. and his wife, Kandy, of Anson; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
