Cleo Hess, 97, of New Deal passed from this life Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004. She was born in Berlin, Okla., July 30, 1907. Cleo was a longtime resident of Lubbock County. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 3, at New Deal First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy. Cleo married Royce Franklin Hess, Aug. 12, 1933, in Abernathy. He preceded her in death April 24, 2004. They farmed and lived in the New Deal community, and she was a member of First United Methodist Church in New Deal. She is survived by her daughter, Glenda Pearl and husband Herbert of Lubbock; 2 grandchildren, Glenda Kay Van Hoose and husband Wayne of New Deal, and Jackie Wayne Thompson, Jr., and wife Kandy of Anson; 10 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
