Bio

Una Dee Dutton, 92, died peacefully Saturday, June 24, 2006, in her home at Lakewood Retirement Village, Fort Worth. Graveside services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday in the City of Lubbock Cemetery, Dr. Bert Dominy officiating. Una Dee was born in Lubbock, to Ashall and Nannie Hess on May 2, 1914. Her parents then moved to the Caldwell community northwest of Lubbock where Una Dee grew up learning the cotton farming business. She married Ray Veazey in 1930 and they had two daughters, Anna Jo and Janita Rae. At the end of the Depression era, Ray and Una Dee moved into Lubbock where they made their home. After the Ray's death in World War II, Una Dee later married Joe Dutton who was "Daddy" to the girls. (Joe preceded Una Dee in death in 1992.) She was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother, and "Ganny." Her passion in life was working in her church, Calvary Baptist Church of Lubbock. After Joe's death, Una Dee moved to Fort Worth to live near her daughters and grandchildren. Una Dee is survived by her daughters, Anna Jo Dominy of Fort Worth, and Janita Young of Arlington; grandchildren, Douglas Young of Arlington, Steven Dominy of Gatesville, and Susan Dominy of Euless; six great-grandchildren, and a loving extended family and a host of friends.
