YOAKUM: Sylvan "Sonny" Garrett, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2012. He was born on October 30, 1933 in Fordtran to Jack and Mattie Vick Garrett. He served in the U.S. Army, was a former law enforcement officer and construction worker and a member of Hebron Baptist Church. Survivors: wife, Claudina Villarreal Garrett; daughters, Ariel Garrett, Carol Martin, Michele Villarreal and Amy Rosas; sons, Doug Garrett, Brad Garrett, Jason Sims, Joseph Sims and Jesse Liendo; 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Molina and Minnie Mae Haney; brother, Jake Garrett. Preceded in death by: son, Craig Garrett; sisters, Inez Nobles, Bessie Lee Hart and Martha Brandenburg; brothers, Bud Garrett, Earl Garrett, Charles Garrett and A.G. Garrett. Family visitation of Friday from 6 p.m. till 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral service on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home with Rev. Buddy Means officiating.
