Salt Lake Telegram, Salt Lake City, UT, Tuesday, Mar 6, 1928, pg 10: "G. E. Kirkham, Sugar Man, Dies at Layton --- Layton, March 6 --- George E. Kirkham, 54, pioneer sugar factory man in Utah, died Monday. He had been interested directly in the sugar factory business in Utah since he was 12 years old, at which time he started to work for the factory at Lehi, where he was born. He had been at Layton since 1915. "Mr. Kirkham's family lives at Provo. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary A. Briggs Kirkham; two sons, Roscoe and Clarence Kirkham; four daughters, Mrs. Meldon Layton and Misses Norma D., Maxine and Mary Kirkham, all of Provo. In addition there survives his mother, Mrs. Mary Kirkham of Lehi; two brothers, Hyrum Kirkham of Salt Lake City and Alvin Kirkham of Mesa, Ariz., and three sisters, Mrs. Daisy Christensen of Lehi, Mrs. Eliza Crabb, Elsinore, Utah, and Mrs. Ruby Pack of Salt Lake City. "Funeral services will be held at Provo."
