Newton "Buddy" Hickman DENISON - Newton W. "Buddy" Hickman, 91, of Denison, Texas, died Sunday, July 8, 2012 at Wilson N. Jones Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Johnson-Moore Chapel with military honors conducted by Sheppard AFB. Burial will be in Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at Johnson-Moore Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson-Moore Funeral Home. He is survived by sons, Weldon Douglas Hickman of Garland, Dennis James Hickman of Sherman; daughter, Debbie Temple of Corinth; sister, Mildred Neaves of Ennis; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. "Buddy" Hickman of Denison, 91-year-old Southwestern Bell Telephone retiree, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2012 in Sherman. Services will be held at 10 a.m Thursday, July 12 at Johnson-Moore Funeral Home in Denison with Dr. Chet Haney officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Sheppard AFB. Burial will follow at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas. Mr. Hickman was born April 23, 1921 in Ennis, son of William Newton and Irma Price Hickman. He graduated from high school in Ennis. He married Nell Wood on March 27, 1948 in Dallas. She preceded him in death on July 2, 2005. He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone in Dallas after 35 years of service. He was a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, serving as a medic in Burma. He served in the Air National Guard Reserves from 1953-1956. He was Past Commander of the VFW Post 7873 and was a member of Parkside Baptist Church. Buddy loved hunting and fishing - but his first love was his family. Mr. Hickman is survived by sons, Weldon Douglas Hickman of Garland, Dennis James Hickman and wife Karen of Sherman; daughter, Debbie Temple of Corinth; sister, Mildred Neaves of Ennis; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Mary Elium of Pottsboro. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Nell Hickman; son, Dana Eugene Hickman; four brothers and four sisters. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Dustin Hickman, Kevin Hickman, Drew Hickman, Michael Griffith, Jason Hickman and Mike Peschel.
