Bio

Zula Mae Hickman Martin, age 86, of Waxahachie, passed away Wednesday evening, January 5, 2005 at Renfro Healthcare Center. She was born January 17, 1918 in Alvarado, Texas to William Newton and Irma Ethel (Price) Hickman. Zula married S. N. Martin on August 16, 1937 in Hillsboro and he preceded her in death on July 12, 1984. She had worked for Audrey?s Bake Shop and was a member of the Ferris Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Janice Davis and her husband Bill of Waxahachie and Joyce Bankston and her husband Wade of Sugarland, TX; two sons, Neal Martin and his wife Judy of Arlington and Norman Martin and his wife Jerri of Lancaster; 9 grandchildren, Vince, Sherry and Vicki Martin, Ronye Ann Meyers, Matthew and Meagan Martin, Martin Davis, Michael Bankston and Mark Bankston; 2 great grandchildren, Jacob Adams and Samantha Meyers; one sister, Mildred Neaves of Ennis; one brother, Buddy Hickman and his wife Nell of Pottsboro, TX and numerous nieces and nephews. Zula was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Wendell, Wallace, Joe and Gene Hickman and 3 sisters, Zonelle Rodgers, Zola Faye Berry and Vida Rickert. Funeral service and interment is scheduled for 2 pm Saturday, January 8, 2005 at Lakeview Cemetery with Reverend David Brown officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 pm Friday at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home
