Daily Post Athenian Jun 29, 2012 Betty Ruth Underdown Betty Ruth Underdown, 83, of Riceville, died Friday evening, June 29, 2012, at Life Care Center of Athens. A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Charles W. "Billie" and Alice Maude Crabtree Underdown, and was preceded in death by one brother, Charles W. Underdown; and one sister, Edna M. Haney. Survivors include two sons, Charles Thomas Underdown and Mike Allen Bruce, both of Riceville; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Velma Davis of Sweetwater, Hazel C. Underdown of Spencer, and Alice and Bill West of Englewood; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Creed L. Underdown and Jesse R. and Patsy Underdown, all of Riceville; one granddaughter, Lindsey Ann Bruce; one great-granddaughter, Jayla Marie Smith; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at South Liberty Cemetery with the Rev. Emmett Morgan officiating. Pallbearers will be Tony Underdown, Tim Underdown, Jesse Underdown, Terry Underdown, Teddy Underdown and Mike Bruce. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ziegler Funeral Home. Ziegler Funeral Home of Athens is in charge of arrangements.
