Bio
Hazel Christina Underdown, 71, of Riceville, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at Generations of Spencer in Spencer. A native of Athens, and a resident of Spencer for the past 13 years, she was a daughter of the late Charles Wilburn and Alice Maude Crabtree Underdown. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Haney and Betty R. Underdown; and one brother, Charles Underdown. She attended Clay Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include two sisters and one brother-in-law, Velma Davis of Sweetwater, and Alice and Bill West of Englewood; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Creed L. Underdown of Riceville, and Jesse Ray and Patsy Underdown of Riceville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in South Liberty Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Ziegler Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Hazel Christina Underdown.
