Bio

Emil Cernoch, 87, of Columbus passed away Sept. 7 at the Schulenburg Regency in Schulenburg. He was born May 18, 1921 to Valentine Cernoch and Frances Krecmer in Ammansville. On April 9, 1942 he married Agnes Janecka. He was a self-employed retired master plumber. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus and American Legion 383 of Columbus. He was also a World War II Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Raymond and Stanley Cernoch; and sisters, Bozena Mican, Sophie Krasuchy and Frances Mican. He is survived by his wife, Agnes Janecka Cernoch of Columbus; daughter Carol Braden and husband Donald of Columbus; three grandchildren, Diana Smith of Magnolia, Phyllis Wavra and husband Merle of Columbus and Michael Braden and wife Amanda, of Columbus; 11 great-grandchidren, Meagan, Casey and Allison Smith of Surfside, Peyton Maichetti of Magnolia, Brandon, Madison and Logan Wavra of Columbus and Ben, Kade, Cody and Trace Braden of Columbus; sister, Lydia Dieringer of San Angelo; and brother George Cernoch of Katy. A rosary will take place Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus. Funeral services will follow at St. Anthony Catholic Church beginning at 2 p.m. with Father Dan Kahlich officiating. Interment will follow at the St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Columbus. Pallbearers include Michael Braden, Ben Braden, Merle Wavra, Brandon Wavra, Leonard Wavra and Randy Smith. [Obituary courtesy of Find a Grave member #48466028]
