Bio

George Cernoch, 98, passed away on January 2, 2009. He was born on July 20, 1910. George was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Katy, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #3077. George was preceded in death by his parents, Valentine and Frances Krecmer Cernoch, his wife, Christina Janecka Cernoch, daughter Janet Greensage, brothers, Raymond, Stanley and Emil Cernoch, sisters, Bozena Mican, Sophie Krasucky, and Frances Mican. Survivors include his daughter, Joyce Kainer and husband, Leonard; son, George Cernoch, Jr.; sister, Lydia Dieringer; four grandchildren, Darrell Kainer and wife Cheryl, Eugene Greensage, Jr., Sharon Harris, and Daniel Cernoch and wife Cheryll; five great-grandchildren, Christina and Jared Kainer, Taylor and Jordan Harris, and Evan Cernoch. Friends are invited to a visitation, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, January 4, at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 5, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Katy. Rite of Committal will follow at Garden of Gethsemani, on the grounds of Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
