Death of a Child "Land of the Angel; A History of Angelina County, Texas, Lufkin, Texas, Lufkin Printing, 1976, The Moore Farm Mystery, says: "On August 26, 1856, as Moore, his wife (Peggy), and three young children [Elizabeth Lewis, Mary Kelsey and William Kelsey] being reared by Mrs. Moore sat down for supper on a gallery at the home, when an unknown assailant crept out of the woods and shot and killed Moore, his wife and one of the children [Mary Kelsey.]
