Mrs. Ethel Tapper and son, Jerry, left Tuesday morning for Arlington Heights, Ill., after spending three weeks here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mose Clement, and other relatives. They were called here by the death of Lewis Jeffres. The Tappers are moving to Florida soon in the interest of Mr. Tapper's health. The Ord Quiz, Ord, Nebraska · Thursday, July 30, 1959 pg 6 Wednesday Services For Lewis Jeffres Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 29 at the Methodist Church in Scotia for Lewis A. Jeffres, former resident there. Rev. Walter Grantham officiated. Mrs. Neville Cargill and Mrs. Joyce Grantham sang accompanied by Mrs. Orvil Hamer. Pallbearers were Horace Karre, Norman Sautter, James Jensen, Harvey Leth, Ernest Whiting and Adrian Sweet. Honorary pallbearers were M. T. Clement, William Sautter, Warren Johnson, Jesse L. Scott, Marius Hansen, Jacob Jensen, Tom Kelly, Frank Byerly and James Leth. Interment was in Mt. Hope cemetery at Scotia with arrangements by Hastings-Pearson Mortuary. Lewis Jeffres was born Dec. 27, 1884 at Horace, Nebr., and died July 23 at Siloam Springs, Ark. He was 74 years old. Son of James and Manervia Jeffres, Lewis married Mary Jacobwith in 1911. They had four children. The family left Scotia 19 years ago for Gentry, Ark., where Mr. Jeffres continued his farming career. He was in failing health the past three years. Survivors are his wife, three children, Mrs. Lois Landen of Finfield, Calif.; Dean of Pagosa Springs, Colo., and Lynn of Jackson, Nebr.; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews in the Scotia community.
