Grand Island (Neb.) Independent, Oct. 23, 1986: Elsie Sautter, 86, a resident of Heritage Village South and former Greeley County resident, died Wednesday, Oct. 22. Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Scotia United Methodist Church. The Rev. Wayne Alloway will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery at Scotia. Visitation was to be Thursday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Ord Memorial Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Ord or Scotia Rescue Units or the church of the donor's choice. Mrs. Sautter was born Aug. 20, 1900, in the Fish Creek area of Greeley County, the daughter of Herman and Emma Piepho Meyer. She married Elmber Sautter on March 30, 1921. They farmed near Horace for 10 years, then moved to Wolbach. After a year they moved to a farm near Scotia. Mr. Sautter died in October 1948. In November 1966 she moved to Grand Island. In 1978 she moved to Ord, returning to Grand Island in 1982. She was a member of the Methodist faith and had been active in Methodist churches in the communities where she had lived. She also was a member of the Happy Hour Club at Fish Creek and the Women's Missionary Society. Survivors at the time of death include two daughters, Lucille Hermsmeyer of Scotia and Lauradel Carson of Ord; two sons, Kenneth of Belmond, Iowa, and Gilbert of Grand Island; 13 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, three grandsons, six brothers and two sisters.
