Bio

Emily (nee Chmelka) Policky died at the Memorial Hospital in Seward on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1952, after a serious illness of several weeks. Funeral services were held on Friday, Dec. 26, at the St. Vaclav church of Bee, conducted by Rev. M. Pazourek with burial in the Bee cemetery. Pallbearers were Richard Moravec, Raymond Hotovy, Bernard Kasti, Joseph F. Policky, Albin Policky and Lewis Policky. Surviving relatives include her husband, Martin; her sons, S/Sgt. Raymond of the U. S. Army, and Vernon; her mother, Mrs. Anna Chmelka; four sisters, Mrs. Louis Kucera of Bruno, Mrs. Frank Makovicka of Seward, Mrs. Anton Makovicka of Ulysses and Rosalyn of Dwight; three brothers, Victor of Omaha, Joseph and Louis of Dwight; and many relatives and friends. A daughter of Mrs. Anna Chmelka and the late August Chmelka, she was born Sept. 6, 1907, on a farm near Weston, Nebr., where she spent most of her life. On Jan. 29, 1929, she was married to Martin Policky. To them were born two sons, Raymond and Vernon. On Same Page: Home From Far East S. Sgt. Raymond Policky, son of Martin Policky of Bee, arrived home on December 17 from the Far East on an emergency furlough due to the illness of his mother, who died December 24. Sgt.
