: Eugene Leonard Nunnenkamp, was born to William and Elizabeth (Siebert) Nunnenkamp, November 14, 1922 on a farmstead southwest of Hampton, Nebraska on and was called home from Aurora, Nebraska on June 3, 2012, at the age of 89. When he was 4, he together with his parents moved to a farmstead south of Aurora. There he spent his childhood with six brothers and four sisters. Gene received his elementary education at school District 27 in southern Hamilton County. At age 14 he was confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church. He was a member there until 1947 when his membership was transferred to First Lutheran Church (Wisconsin Synod) at Aurora, where he served faithfully in many offices. Gene was united in marriage to Justina Kliewer on September 24, 1946, at St. Peters Lutheran Church at Hampton. Their union was blessed with five children. He was a life-long farmer in Hamilton County, raising crops, hogs and cattle. Gene lived life to the fullest. He and Justina rode their Harley thousands of miles which they both enjoyed so much. He was an avid blue rock shooter at Crooked Creek Gun Club on his farm south of Aurora. He also took great pleasure in hunting raccoon and pheasant. In his retirement years he enjoyed woodworking, building many keepsake items shared with family and friends. He is survived by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly. These survivors include his children, Bev (Tom) Johnson of Bingham, NE, JoAnn (Walter) Wendt of Aurora, Larry (Jane) Nunnenkamp of Aurora, Don (Sharon) Nunnenkamp of Cotopaxi, CO and Randy (Julie) Nunnenkamp of Aurora; Grandchildren: Kurt, Buck, Tater and James Johnson, Travis Wendt, Tanya Grosshans, Tina Schmidt, Tiffany Winkel, Lisa Dalager, Eric, Shane and Todd Nunnenkamp, Tracy Nunnenkamp, Stacy Siebert, Jess Nunnenkamp, Katie Scott, Lacy Parsons and Josey Nunnenkamp and 34 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Fred (Laura) Nunnenkamp and Harold (Virginia) Nunnenkamp; sisters, Bernice Trautman and Wilma (Dean) MacDonald; brother-in-law, Clyde Mortenson; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Nunnenkamp and Luetta Nunnenkamp. He is welcomed into Heaven by his wife Justina; grandsons, Christopher and Adam Nunnenkamp and great-grandson, Tyrell Johnson as well as his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
