Birth/baptism record: St. Stanislaus Catholic, Duncan, Platte, Nebraska Michael OLSZOWNA, son of Joannes Olszowna & Agnes BRYG Born 19 July 1896 Baptised: 26 July 1896 Godparents: Francina Wleczyk & Michael Furmanski ============================== Grand Island (Nebraska) Daily Independent Thursday, June 8, 1972 Michael Olzofka (sic), a retired employee of the Nebraska Veteran's Home and a resident of Grand Island for the past 42 years, died Wednesday evening in a local hospital following a long illness. The family home is at 2102 N. Broadwell. Funeral rites are pending with the Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. He was born July 19, 1896 at Duncan, the son of John and Agatha Olzofka (Olszowka/Olsufka). He received his schooling in the community of his birth. In 1929 he came to Grand Island and was employed by the Nebraska Veteran's Home. He was married to Clara Stopak Nov. 23, 1932 at Genoa. They made their only home in Grand Island. He retired in 1967 after more than 30 years of service with the Veteran's Home. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish. Survivors include his wife, Clara, a daughter, Mrs. Mary Jacobs of Bangkok, Thailand; two brothers, Joe of Duncan and Tony of Omaha; and four grandchildren.
