Bio

Joseph Lahodny, 89, of Shiner, Texas, died March 10, 2005.He is survived by his wife Della Henrichs Lahodny, married June 4, 1945; 2-sons Donald E. Lahodny of Victoria, and Glenn E. Lahodny Sr. and wife Jan Zapalac Lahodny of Schulenburg; and grandson Glenn E. "Buck" Lahodny Jr. of Schulenburg. He is preceded in death by his parents Jim and Josephine Caka Lahodny, 2-brothers, 4-sisters, and grandson Troy Lahodny. On March 21, 1942, he entered the US Army and obtained the rank of T/Sgt when he was honorable discharged on July 26, 1945. He received the Bronze Star Medal; Purple Heart Medal; European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 5 bronze service stars for Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe Campaigns; and the Good Conduct Medal. Service: 2 pm, Thursday, March 17, 2005 at Kubena Funeral Home; and visitation will start at 1 pm that Thursday. Officiate: Rev. Herb Beyer. Burial will be at Shiner Cemetery.Victoria Advocate, Victoria, Texas, Sunday, March 13, 2005
