Donald Edward Lahodny, 76, of Shiner, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m.Thursday, July 21 at the Shiner Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 22 at Shiner Funeral Home, with Pastor Herb Beyer officiating. Interment will follow in Shiner Memorial Gardens under the direction of Shiner Funeral Home, Shiner. He was born on February 24, 1946, in Hallettsville, to Emil J. and Della Henrichs Lahodny. He was a member of the United Evangelical Lutheran Dr. Martin Luther Church in Shiner. Donald grew up in Shiner and graduated from Shiner High School and later Southwest Texas University with a degree in Business Administration. He enjoyed playing fastpitch softball in those early years where he excelled at pitching. After graduating he went to work for Victoria Mack in parts distribution eventually retiring in the early 2000's. Donald moved back to Shiner after the passing of his father to care for his mother and remained after she passed away. Donald was a subdued quiet man who enjoyed the simple things in life, especially a well-cared lawn. Survivors include his brother, Glenn Emil Lahodny and friend Mimi Richter of Moulton; and nephew, Dr. Glenn E. Lahodny, Jr. and wife Kennedy of San Antonio. He was preceded in death by his son, Troy Shawn Lahodny; and his parents. The family requests memorials be made to Shady Oak Nursing Home in Moulton, for the exceptional care Donald received for the short time he was there or a charity of one's choice.
