Millard County Chronicle 4/3/1947 SERVICES HELD IN AURORA FOR JOS. CHRISTENSEN Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Aurora LDS Ward chapel for Joseph M. Christensen, whose death occurred there on Monday, March 31, at 6 p.m. Mr. Christensen was sixty-six years of age. Mr. Christensen was born in Oak City, June 7, 1880, a son of Antone and Castina Lovell Christensen, and his early life was spent there. He was married to Tillie Curtis and after her death he was married to Lulu Payne. The family home was in Hinckley for many years and since 1929 the home has been in Aurora. Mr. Christensen was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had served as Superintendent of the MIA of Aurora, ward choir leader, member of the Seventies quorum in Oak City and Sunday School Superintendent at Hinckley. He was President of the North Western States LDS Mission for two years and in 1926 he was chosen one of the seven presidents of the 21st quorum of seventies. He later was ordained a High Priest. He is survived by his widow and 11 sons and daughters; Don, Garn and Verna Christensen of Aurora; Lloyd Christensen, Tooele; Mrs. Erma Works, Oakland, California; Mrs. Verda Littlefair, Albany, California; Mrs. Leah Tassis, Battle Creek, Michigan; Mrs. Clea Lambert, Sparks, Nevada; Mrs. Sarah Fowles, Delta; Grand Christensen in the Western States Mission; twenty-two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by four brothers, John Christensen, Aurora, Edward Christensen, Delta and Willard and Albert Christensen, Oak City, and three sisters, Sylvia Christensen, Delta, Pearl Anderson, Sahara Village and Hilda Wright, Hinckley. Mr. Christensen will be buried in Aurora.
