Bio
Glen Lyman Gurr joined his sweet wife, Erva, on August 8, 2001 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born November 10, 1918 in Oakley, Idaho, a son of John Miles and Alice Rowley Gurr. He married Erva Christensen on June 10, 1940 in the Manti LDS Temple. Together they served four missions for the LDS Church in Florida, Samoa, Arizona and Missouri. Erva died November 18, 1996. Glen married Reba Lazenby on April 30, 1999 in the St. George LDS Temple. Glen was a veteran of World War II. He enjoyed the years he spent serving as scout master, ward clerk and Family History Consultant. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, missionary and temple work and especially nibbling on the grandchildren's ears. He was a dedicated father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his four daughters: Ramona and James Jorgensen of Downers Grove, IL; Colleen and David Poulson of West Jordan, UT; Jeanine and Gary Stillman of Salt Lake City, UT; Mary Ellen and Jim Warford of Victorville, CA; special friends, Carrie and Paul Brotherson of Salina, UT; and Canderlaria Brown of Arizona; his 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sister: Zella Roberts, his second wife, Reba, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his oldest daughter and her husband, Janet and Blaine Nielson; two grandchildren: Jennifer Stillman and Jason Smith, his parents, two brothers and three sisters: Delbert Gurr, Miles Gurr, Lucy Rasmussen, Elma Nelson and Alice Gurr. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 11, 2001 at 3 p.m. in the Aurora 1st LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Saturday 1 to 2:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Aurora City Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, UT. Published in the Deseret News.
