Our kind and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Erva Christensen Gurr, age 78, died November 18, 1996 in a Provo, Utah hospital of complications from a cerebral aneurism. She was born July 30, 1918 in Aurora, Utah, a daughter of Christian and Mary Ellen Jacobson Christensen. She married Glen Lyman Gurr on June 10, 1940 in the Manti LDS Temple. She was an active member of the LDS Church serving in all auxiliaries. She and her husband served four full time missions, one to Florida, Samoa, Arizona and Missouri. She enjoyed singing, especially with the trio and double trio. Erva enjoyed sewing, cooking and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a life long resident of Aurora. She is survived by her husband of Aurora; her children, Ramona and James Jorgensen of Chicago, Ill.; Colleen and David Poulson of West Jordan; Jeanine and Gary Stillman of Peoa, Utah; Mary Ellen and Jim Warford of Victorville, CA; Carrie and Paul Brotherson of Salina; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother and sister, Wayne Christensen of Portland, Oregon; and Mary Enid Baadsgaard of Springville. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet and her husband, Blaine Nielson; one granddaughter, Jennifer Stillman; and eight brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 23, 1996, at 1 p.m. in the Aurora First LDS Ward chapel. Friends may call at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Salina, Friday evening 6 to 8 p.m. and at the ward chapel in Aurora Saturday morning from 11 to 12:30 p.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Aurora City Cemetery under the direction of Springer-Turner Funeral homes of Salina and Richfield. Published in the Deseret News.
