Bio

William, born to John Bailey Turman and Matilda E. Birl, was one child out of three. William was married married twice. First to Ida Webb, then had five children. Then to Sallie Sikes, they had four children. The Bonham Daily Favorite Bonham, Texas Monday, 09 Feb 1959, Page 3 John Turman Rites Are Held Monday John William Turman, 91, a long-time resident of the Gober community, died in a Bonham rest home at 4 a. m. Sunday, Feb. 8, 1959. He had been in ill health for a number of years. Funeral services were held at the Wise Funeral Home chapel at 2 p. m. Monday with Elder H. G. Ball, Primitive Baptist minister from Tioga officiating. Interment was in Philadelphia cemetery. Mr. Turman was born Jan. 11, 1868, in Arkansas, but had lived in Fannin county most of his life. Survivors are four sons, Roy Turman and Eurie Turman, both of Gober, Collie Turman of Bonham, Ira Turman of Dallas; three half-brothers, Albert Turman of Bonham, Walter Turman of Hail, Charley Turman of Dumas; a half-sister, Mrs. Minnie Ogerly of Vernon; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
