The Alexandria Argus (Alexandria Nebraska) 11 Oct 1906 THEODORE W. ROPER was born at St. Louis Mo, June 26, 1852. He was the first child of a family of six, all of which were taken early in life, except one sister and himself. They were left orphans while they were yet small children. He was taken to Jefferson county, Nebr. at the age of fourteen years, where he lived with his uncle Thomas Helvey. He was united in marriage to Miss Rhoda A. Kelley August 21, 1873. They spent their married life near their old home in Nebraska until Oct 27, 1898. Since that time they have lived in various parts of Kansas, Missouri, and S. Dakota, until March 1906 they settled in Kit Carson Co., Col., where he died Sept 29 at the age of 54 years, 3 months and 3 days. To that union was born eleven children eight sons and three daughters all of which survived him except one son which was taken from this life while in his infancy. His surviving family were all present at his funeral except one daughter Mrs. Alice Brown of S.D. Those who were present were; Chas. F. Roper of Hoxey, Kansas, Albert W. Roper of Alexandria, Nebr., Mrs. Amanda Forney of Pearl, Col, Mrs. Agnes Richardson, of LeRoy, Col., Arthur A., Theadore Harry, Curtis and Vernon. He leaves a wife, ten children and one sister to mingle their tears over him. He was a loving husband, a kind father, and a friend to all who knew him.
