Thanks to contributor #47466150 Columbus (Nebraska) Independent Wednesday, 27 April 1977 PODLO - Mrs. Katie Podlo, 962 28th Avenue, died this morning in the Columbus Manor after a long illness. She was 85. Funeral rites will be conducted by Rev. Laurin Buzynski, 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony Catholic Church with burial at St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Rosary service will be 8 p.m. Sunday at McKown Funeral Chapel where the body will lie in state after 1 p.m. Sunday. Mrs. Podlo was born in Poland Feb. 19, 1892, daughter of Peter and Cora Boro. She came to Columbus at the age of five, attended St. Bonaventure Grade School and later was a member of St. Anthony Church and St. Theresa Sodality. On Nov. 20, 1911 she married Frank Briggs who died in 1922. Her second marriage was to John Podlo on Oct. 23, 1929. He died in 1945. She is survived by one son, Henry F. Briggs of Columbus; two granddaughters, Mrs. Jimmy (Ellen) Stewart of Germany and Dorothy Briggs of Grand Island; one great-grandson, Michael Stewart; two sisters, Stacia Stachura of Columbus; Mrs. Frank Zulkoski of Elyria; nieces and nephews. Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Frank Briggs; daughter, Helen Jazwieck; and two brothers.
