Columubus (Nebraska) Telegram Sunday, 12 May 1985 COLUMBUS - Henry (Hank) F. Briggs, 63, of 972 28th Ave. died Friday, May 10, at his home. Services are 10 a.m. Monday at St. Bonaventure Church in Columbus with Fr. Alois Gabrus officiating. Burial is in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery with Military Graveside Services by Harman Post No. 84. Visitation is after 2 p.m. Sunday at McKown Funeral Home. Rosary by Parish and Knight of Columbus Scripture Service 7:30 p.m. at McKown Funeral Home. Mr. Briggs was born August 1, 1921, in Columbus to Frank and Katherine (Boro) Briggs and attended St. Anthony Grade School and Kramer High School in Columbus. He married Tecla A. Olson Dec. 17, 1946, in Iowa City, Iowa, and lived in Fremont, Kearney, Lincoln, and returned to Columbus in 1970. Surviving are his wife Tecla of Columbus; two daughters, Ellen (Mrs. James) Stewart of Costa Mesa, Ca., Dorothy (Mrs. Roger) Hurt of Columbus; and one grandson Michael Stewart. Mr. Briggs was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother. He was a body and fender man for 25 years and then water plant operator for the city of Columbus for 11 years. He served in WW II as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Marines in the southwest and central Pacific in Guadalcanal, Guam and the Marianas Island. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Bonaventure Church.
