Pete P. Sukup, 81, of Georgetown and formerly of Rosebud died Saturday, November 13, 2004, at the Wesleyan Nursing Home West Wing in Georgetown, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. He was born on June 29, 1923, in Rosebud to Frank and Johanna (Philpek) Sukup. He was the youngest of 12 children. His parents came from Czechoslovakia in the early 1900s. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant on November 27, 1945, at Westover Field, Massachusetts. Prior to his military service, he was a blacksmith. He was also a private pilot and enjoyed flying for many years. On November 26, 1959 he married Olga Margaret Tydiacka in Dime Box, Texas. They had two children Kevin and Joanie Sukup. Olga preceded him in death in August 1987.They moved to Georgetown in 1962 to take over the family business – Roberts Printing Company. He worked there until he sold the business in 1996. On November 21, 1992, he married Ruth Ann Peters and they spent many wonderful years together. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Sukup of Georgetown; his son, Kevin Sukup and wife Carol of Weir; his daughter, Joanie Sukup Arneson of Georgetown, and Jason of Fairbanks, Alaska; sister, Madeline Beimer of Dallas; brother, Steve Sukup (Franciscan Brother Jude) of Cincinnati, Ohio; five grandchildren; sister-in-law, Gloria Tydlacka Kubeczka of Birch; brother-in-law, Woodrow Spacek and wife Elizabeth of Dime Box; and many nieces and nephews. A Rosary was said Monday, November 15, 2004, at 7 p.m. at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown. The Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, November 16, 2004, at St. Helen Catholic Church in Georgetown, with Father Michael Mulvey as celebrant. Burial followed at the I.O.O.F Cemetery in Georgetown.
