Bio

Joan Marie Sukup (April 16, 1964 - July 16, 2009) Joanie Sukup, 45, completed her earthly journey toward her heavenly reward on July 16, 2009. Joanie was born on April 16, 1964, in Georgetown to Pete and Olga Margaret Tydlacka Sukup. She was a 1982 graduate of Georgetown High School. She earned a Bachelor's degree in business from Tarleton State University. She worked in various businesses in Georgetown, including TG&Y, the Candle Factory, Georgetown Country Club and Southwestern University. Joanie may be best known for working with her father, running the family business, Roberts Printing. For the past 8 years, Joanie worked in the accounting department for J.I. Company in Austin. Joanie was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brother Kevin and wife Carol, and nieces Margaret, Elizabeth and Clare. She is also survived by her step-mother Ruth Sukup; step-sister Tish Defiel and Bruce; step-brother Tim Peters and wife Kim, and their children, E.J. and Gracie. Joanie was blessed with a large circle of friends and family, sharing her joy for life and supporting her during her illness. She cherished every moment with them, including time at the lake and the beach and traveling to many destinations around the world. Joanie was an avid NASCAR fan and University of Texas Longhorn tailgater. She will also be remembered for her love of cats. Joanie's zest for life and ever-present smile will truly be missed. A Mass celebrating her life will be held at St. Helen's Catholic Church, 2700 E. University Avenue, Georgetown, at 10 a.m., Monday, July 20, 2009. Visitation with the family is from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Sunday, July 19, 2009, at Gabriels Funeral Chapel, followed by the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. Pallbearers are Brian Spacek, Danny Reel, Shawn Enos, Mike Eubank, Kevin Stuckly, Tol Harris, Tim Peters, and Rick DeBarres. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, or Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic School, P.O. Box 248, Granger, TX. 76530.
