Bio

Joseph Anton Sliva was born in Moravia (in present-day Czech Republic) on 13 March 1867. He was the son of Vaclav Sliva and Marie Vasicek Sliva. Marie was born in Kuncice, Moravia (in present-day Czech Republic) - it was recorded on her headstone: "Kuncie near Ostrava, Moravia." People usually married someone within their own village or a neighboring village back then, so her husband Vaclav was probably born in Kunice or a nearby village. So probably Joseph was also. He married Albina Pratka on 10 August 1885 in Fayette County, Texas. They were the parents of Henry Anton, Matilda, Hermina, Emilie, John Emil Sr., Mary Catherine, and Adela Sliva. His daughter, Emilie "Millie" Lillian Sliva, married my great-uncle William Joseph Wiesner. His son, Henry Anton Sliva, married my great-aunt Maria "Mary" Wiesner. His son, John Emil Sliva Sr., married my great-aunt, Amalie Lucy Dornak. After the 16 December 1906 death of Albina, Joseph married Julianna Mazoch. They had Martha and Jerome Louis Sliva. Julianna died in 1913. Joseph then married Mary Peter. Joseph and Mary had a child, Joseph Sliva. Joseph Anton Sliva died on 18 April 1942 in El Campo, Wharton County, Texas. ~ by Linda Wiesner, great-niece of William Joseph Wiesner, Maria "Mary" Wiesner, and Amalie Lucy Dornak.
