Funeral services for Willie Lawrence Betterton, 61, of Rt. 5, McKinney, were held at 2 p.m. Friday in Turrentine-Jackson Chapel, Rev. Lonnie Murphy and Rev. Robert Collingsworth officiating. Interment was in Wilson Chapel Cemetery. He was born Sept. 8, 1908 in Collin County, the son of Jim and Lucy Berry Betterton, and died Thursday in Collin Memorial Hospital. He was a member of the Branch Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bonnie Betterton, son Wayne Betterton and three grandchildren, Jill, Darla Kay and David Betterton, all of McKinney. ---McKinney Courier-Gazette, McKinney, Texas, Friday, February 20, 1970, page 5.
