Wayne Betterton, age 78, of McKinney, Texas, passed away May 14, 2014. He was born on June 29, 1935, in Winningkoff Community, Texas to William Lawrence and Bonnie Bird (Calton) Betterton. On February 5, 1955, Wayne married Jacqueline York (who preceded him in death) in Bonham, Texas; he later married Lois Head on June 18, 2011 in Fairview, Texas. Wayne owned and operated a construction company, as well as Wayne's Cars in McKinney, Texas. He was a member and song leader at First Baptist Church of Branch and an M.C. for the Gospel Program at Wanda's Music Shop. He is survived by his wife, Lois Betterton of McKinney; daughters, Jill Waynette Caldwell and husband Bobby of Winnsboro, Texas, Darla Kay Moss and husband Alan, also of Winnsboro; son, David Wayne Betterton and wife Tammy of Melissa, Texas; grandchildren, Kary Caldwell and wife Laura of Pottsboro, Texas, Kara Prater and husband Mark of Princeton, Texas, Chris Moss and wife Rachael of Winnsboro, Texas, Michele Ledkins and husband Jacob of Mineola, Texas, Kyle Betterton and wife Erika of Arlington, Texas, Brandon Betterton and wife Kim of Greenville, Texas, Lyndsey Howard of Honey Grove, Texas; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, William Lawrence and Bonnie Bird Betterton; first wife, Jackie Betterton; and son, Mark Betterton. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 18, 2014, at First Baptist Church of Branch, 7011 FM 546, Princeton, Texas. Interment will follow at Wilson Chapel Cemetery, in Lowry's Crossing, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation being held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., on Saturday evening, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
