Herald Coaster, January 20, 1994: Funeral services for June M. Harrington, 66, of Needville, are scheduled 2 p.m. Friday at Needville United Methodist Church. The Rev. David Foster will officiate, with burial at Needville Public Cemetery. She was born June Llyndahl McMurtray on Aug. 21, 1927 in Indianola, Miss. She was valedictorian of her graduating class at Indianola High School in 1945. She also attended Sunflower County Junior College. She married Fred W. Harrington from Mattson, Miss. on May 10, 1952. She spent most of her working career in advertising. She started her own business, June Harrington Advertising, at her home in Needville. She died at the home she loved. She was a member of the Needville United Methodist Church, UMW, Ruth Circle, Fort Bend Chapter of the DAR, and the Fort Settlement Chapter of the DRT. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert. Survivors include her mother, Lois McMurtray; her husband, Fred William Harrington; four daughters and their husbands, Bridget and Charles Purifoy, Brenda and Butch Markert of Spring, Carla and Rayford Harmon of Temple, and Tricia and Donnie Smith of Houston; a son and his wife, Stanley and Myla Harrington of Houston; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Robert A. McMurtray Jr. and James W. McMurtray; sisters, Mary Caroline Pugh and Lois E. "Betsy" White; and numerous nephews and nieces. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Thursday at Garmany & Carden Funeral Home in Needville. Arrangements are under the direction of Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors in Needville.
