Herald Coaster, May 11, 2004: Funeral services for Fred William Harrington, age 75, of Needville, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at First Baptist Church, 502 S. Fifth Street in Richmond, with the Rev. John Lockhart officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Needville Public Cemetery. Visitation for friends is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at Garmany & Carden Funeral Home in Rosenberg. He went to be with the Lord May 8, 2004 at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital in Houston after heart complications. He was born to Fred and Gertrude Jones Harrington in Mattson, Miss. Dec. 12, 1928. He served six years in the U.S. Navy and moved to Texas in 1957. He retired from Monsanto Oil Co. in 1984. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Sidney Ray Harrington; his first wife of 41 1/2 years, June Lyndahl McMurtray Harrington; wife, Annie Schonert Harrington; and grandson, Drill James Purifoy. He is survived by four daughters and their husbands, Bridget Purifoy and Ronnie Holcomb, Brenda and Butch Market, Carla and Rayford Harmon, and Tricia and Donnie Smith; son, Stanley Harrington and wife, Arleen; stepchildren, Erlene Kucera and husband, Arnold, Bernice Petrosky and husband, Felix, Lucille Scott and husband, Richard, and Peggy Griffith; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Allene Watson, Jeanette Green, and Nancy Puckett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
